Registration for Pumpkin Harvest Field Trips is Open!

To schedule a program, request a date from our program calendar. Registration will be open until all spots are filled (spots tend to fill very quickly). If you find that all of the spots are taken when you go to register, please add your name to the waiting list. 

Each field trip slot can accommodate up to 36 students. If you register for more than 36 students in one time slot, your booking will be canceled.

Information you will need to complete your registration: 

  • School Name, grade, number of students, cell phone number for day-of contact, front office email contact for billing


What is a pumpkin HARVEST field trip?

A one and a half hour field trip to The Farm at SOU in Ashland or Hanley Farm in Central Point for preschool - second grade students. The field trips provide an opportunity for students to explore with their five senses and discover what is happening on the farm in the fall. Students will sample organic vegetables at the farm and harvest a small pumpkin to take home.

Ages Served: Preschool - 2nd grade

Locations: The Farm at SOU in Ashland (Thursdays) & Hanley Farm in Central Point (Wednesdays & Fridays)

Dates & Times Available: Programs run September 25-November 8

  • Wednesdays @ Hanley Farm in Central Point - 9:00-10:30am & 10:15-11:45am

  • Thursdays @ The Farm at SOU in Ashland - 9:45-11:15am & 11:45-1:15pm

  • Fridays @ Hanley Farm in Central Point - 9:00-10:30am & 11:00-12:30pm

Cost: $230 for up to 36 students per field trip slot. An invoice will be sent to you after your field trip.

HARVEST MEALS (3rd-5th GRADE)**

A 3-4 hour farm visit that includes a variety of age-appropriate lessons and activities in the field and kitchen. Students will participate in harvesting and cooking lunch at the farm. Harvest Meals are offered in the fall, September-October and in the spring, April-June.

**At this time, we are not offering Harvest Meal programs for classes outside of our Digging Deeper School Partnership program. Please email Ellie, program manager, to get on our mailing list for future field trip opportunities. We also recommend checking in with White Oak Farm & Education Center in Williams & The Crest at Willow-Witt Ranch in Ashland for other farm-based field trips in the Rogue Valley.

The Farm at SOU is a living learning laboratory featuring a diverse vegetable farm on land adjacent to many pre-school, elementary, middle and high schools. The Farm has been hosting RVF2S Harvest Meals and other programs since 2014.


Historic Hanley Farm, established in 1857, is a 37 acre working farm.  Owned and operated by the Southern Oregon Historical Society, Hanley Farm strives to preserve the history of the people who settled the land and their contributions to the agricultural development of the Rogue Valley. Hanley Farm is the home base for the Family Nurturing Center Farm & Food Program, where families participate in therapeutic groups as they grow, harvest, prepare, and preserve healthy produce, eggs, and meat raised using sustainable methods.

The Crest at Willow-Witt is an educational organization on the 445 acre Willow-Witt Ranch in Southern Oregon. This beautiful home consists of forest, wetland, and an organic farm with vegetables, goats, chickens, and geese. They cultivate connection between people and sources of food, forest and water for all ages.
